La Bibliothèque a été fondée en 1982 avec un fonds de 5'000 documents et un catalogue manuel ; 1997: informatisation du catalogue avec le logiciel Netbiblio ; 2004: adhésion au réseau de la bibliothèque virtuelle de la région de Sion ; février 2008: certification BiblioValais Excellence; novembre 2017 : déménagement dans de nouveaux locaux.
