Mit der Eröffnung des Verkehrshauses im Jahr 1959 wurde im Eingangsgebäude des Museums auch ein «Verkehrsarchiv» und eine Bibliothek eingerichtet. 2009 wurde das neue Dokumentationszentrums, bestehend aus Verkehrsarchiv und Präsenzbibliothek, am neuen Standort unterhalb des Planetariums eröffnet.
Das Dokumentationszentrum im Verkehrshaus erwirbt laufend aktuelle und historische Literatur.
