Die Volksbibliothek Uster wurde im Jahr 1864 gegründet. Im Jahr 1965 wurde die Stadtbibliothek Uster, ein Zusammenzug aus 5 kleinen Bibliotheken, eröffnet. Im Jahr 1973 fand der Umzug an den heutigen Standort statt. Und im Jahr 2008 wurde die Bibliothek umgebaut und vergrössert. Die Stadtbibliothek ist voll integrierter Bestandteil der Stadtverwaltung Uster.
