Die Bibliothek Elsau war zu Beginn eine reine Gemeindebibliothek. Mit dem Umzug ins Primarschulhaus 2006 wurden die Schulbibliotheken integriert. Fortan kommen die Klassen regelmässig zur Ausleihe und zu Einführungslektionen. 2023 erfolgte der Umzug ins Kulturhaus Hofwis. Die Bibliothek hat somit erstmals ihre eigens konzipierten Räumlichkeiten erhalten.
