Ca. im Jahr 1965 wurde in Rothrist in einem Schulhaus eine kleine Schulbibliothek aufgebaut, die später dann in ein offizielles Schulzimmer einziehen durfte. Aus Platzgründen zog die Bibliothek an die Bernstrasse 120 und nannte sich ab da offiziell Schul- und Gemeindebibliothek Rothrist. Mit einer Schenkung des Miescherheimets an die Gemeinde Rothrist bekam die Bibliothek die Möglichkeit, in einen neuen modernen Anbau an das unter Heimatschutz gestellte Miescherheimets zu ziehen. Im Jahr 2014 konnte eine erneute Erweiterung gefeiert werden. Die Bibliothek bekam einen grosszügigen Anbau und konnte so die Fläche beträchtlich erweitern.
Die Schul- und Gemeindebibliothek Rothrist ist eine kombinierte Bibliothek. Sie ist für alle Personen zügänglich.
